Rubi–Tele Game Reserve

The Rubi–Tele Game Reserve is one of the most important wildlife conservation areas in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, spanning Bas-Uélé and Ituri provinces. Anchored by the Rubi and Tele river systems, the reserve protects vast tracts of intact lowland Congo Basin rainforest, forming a critical ecological corridor between northern savanna landscapes and central equatorial forests. Rubi–Tele is recognized for its role in safeguarding large mammals, forest biodiversity, and freshwater ecosystems in one of Africa's least disturbed forest regions. The reserve plays a strategic role in forest elephant conservation, biodiversity connectivity, watershed protection, and carbon storage through intact rainforest systems.
