Green corridors — routine tourism
Kinshasa (Gombe, Ngaliema, Ma Campagne), Lola ya Bonobo, Kongo Central (Boma, Matadi, Muanda, Mbanza-Ngungu), Lubumbashi city, Kolwezi city, Garamba National Park via operator flight, Kahuzi-Biéga Tshivanga sector via Bukavu, Virunga Bukima and Nyiragongo (under Virunga Foundation security).
Amber corridors — verified operator only
Congo River journeys Kinshasa–Mbandaka, Salonga National Park, Upemba National Park, Okapi Wildlife Reserve, Kasai and Kwilu heritage routes. Safe with a licensed operator; not for independent travel.
Red zones — not recommended
North Kivu and South Kivu outside protected tourism corridors, Ituri outside Okapi Reserve access, Tanganyika border areas. These zones are subject to armed-group activity. Verified operators can still access specific sites under strict protocol; independent travel here is not supported.
