Mount Nyiragongo

Mount Nyiragongo is one of the world's most active volcanoes and home to the largest lava lake on Earth. Rising 3,470 meters in Virunga National Park, it offers adventurous travelers a chance to camp on the crater rim and witness the mesmerizing glow of molten lava. The overnight trek takes 4-6 hours ascending through various vegetation zones. Despite its 2002 eruption that devastated parts of Goma, Nyiragongo remains a bucket-list destination for volcano enthusiasts. The sight of the boiling lava lake at night is truly otherworldly.
