Lake Tshangalele Hunting Domain

The Lake Tshangalele Hunting Domain is a protected conservation landscape centered around Lake Tshangalele in Haut-Lomami Province, southern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dominated by a large freshwater lake and surrounding wetlands, the area forms an important ecological hub within the southern Congo plateau, supporting aquatic biodiversity, birdlife, and savanna–wetland transition ecosystems. Lake Tshangalele plays a critical role in freshwater and wetland conservation in southern DRC. Its lake and floodplain systems regulate local hydrology, provide breeding grounds for fish and birds, and contribute to climate resilience and biodiversity protection across the Haut-Lomami landscape.
