Confirm permissions, local guidance, route feasibility and the purpose of the visit. Keep groups appropriate to local capacity. Ask before photographing people, homes, ceremonies or livelihoods. Do not publish sensitive wildlife locations.

Plan waste removal, safe water, careful camp locations and minimal disturbance. Employ local expertise fairly and follow protected-area rules. Conservation-led travel should strengthen local participation rather than treating communities as scenery.
