Kinshasa is where most Social Club editions take place. It is a city of well over ten million people on the south bank of the Congo River, with a music culture that shaped a continent, a serious restaurant scene, golf and racquet clubs, a growing gallery circuit and a riverfront that most visitors never reach.

For residents, the Social Club is a way to use the city better: a reason to be somewhere on a Thursday evening, a table already booked, people worth meeting already in the room. For visitors and returning diaspora, it removes the two barriers that keep people in their hotel — not knowing where to go, and not wanting to arrive alone.

A Kinshasa month typically moves across several formats. A golf morning and executive round table on the fairway. A Pilates, padel or tennis session mid-week. An acrylic painting social with a Congolese artist. A folklore concert or a rumba night that runs late, with hosted transport home. A long Congolese table of ngai ngai, liboke, grilled capitaine and plantain. A Sunday river outing from one of the city's landing points.

Kinshasa is also the departure point for weekend escapes. Zongo Falls, the botanical garden at Kisantu and the hills of Kongo Central all sit within a comfortable drive, which makes the city the natural base for a first trip to the DRC.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need to live in Kinshasa to take part?
No. Editions are open to residents, visitors and diaspora guests alike. Tell us your travel dates on your registration and we will let you know what falls inside them.
How do people get around in the evening?
Hosted transport can be arranged for evening editions within Kinshasa. Arrangements are confirmed in writing to registered guests before each edition; we never leave guests to find their own way home from a late night.

Not yet for this experience. We only publish a date, venue, price or performer once it is contractually confirmed. Register your interest and you will be contacted first when an edition opens.
