Mulumbu Hunting Domain

The Mulumbu Hunting Domain is a protected conservation landscape in western DRC, located within a broad forest–savanna transition zone linking the Congo Basin rainforest to the western plateaus. Characterized by open woodlands, river corridors, and seasonal wetlands, Mulumbu represents a classic western Congo environment where open plateaus meet forested waterways—supporting biodiversity and long-term ecological resilience. Mulumbu plays an important role in western Congo's ecological connectivity, helping maintain habitat continuity between forest and savanna systems. Its landscapes support species adapted to transitional environments and contribute to climate resilience, carbon storage, and sustainable land stewardship in the greater Mai-Ndombe–Kwilu region.
