    Province Overview

Lualaba Province is named for the great river that becomes the Congo – here at its upper reaches, still a manageable waterway flowing through high plateaus. This is mining country, producing much of the world's cobalt and copper. But beyond the industry lie high savanna plateaus, miombo woodlands, and the sense of being at the source of one of Earth's great river systems.
